identiMetrics Introduces Ethernet-Based Biometric Finger Scanning for Vending Machines at the California Association of School Business Officials Annual Conference!

 THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2007

MALVERN, PA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – THURSDAY, JUNE 14, 2007 – identiMetrics, a recognized leader in the development and marketing of biometrics finger scanning identification solutions, with their proprietary software identiFi™, recently made news at the 2007 California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) Annual Conference and California School Business Expo held from April 12-16 at the San Jose Convention Center.

With more than 170 educational sessions and exhibits from over 240 companies offering leading edge information on their respective specialties, this year’s conference included attendees from across the broad spectrum of school business. In keeping with CASBO’s mission to “spark the imagination to find innovative solutions that save time and resources in our schools,” identiMetrics personified the theme of this year’s meetings…Innovation. Imagination. Inspiration.

As a conference exhibitor and participant, identiMetrics was invited by CASBO’s Sacramento R&D Child Nutrition Committee to find a solution that would allow K-12 students the opportunity to purchase a full lunch outside of cafeteria hours using a vending machine. identiMetrics accepted the challenge and assembled a team of experts to develop a solution that would eliminate USB finger scanners and the need for an attached computer to the vending machine.

identiMetrics’ CEO, Jay Fry, along with Mary Hillen from Complete Business Systems and Doug Boals from Data Futures, wowed an impressive audience of food service directors and administrators.  The unique integration, using an Ethernet biometric finger scanner, eliminated the need for a computer attached to the vending machine, thus providing more versatility and lowering costs. The culmination of six month’s collaboration with partners, Data Futures, Inc., E-Secure Peripherals, Star Food Vending Machines and Complete Business Systems resulted in vending machines that use a biometric finger scanner to replace cards and PINS and the need for two-factor identification. Schools can now use this cost-effective, flexible and efficient solution to provide meals for students outside the cafeteria or when the cafeteria is closed, and still qualify for state and federal reimbursement.

According to Fry, “At identiMetrics, we relish the opportunity to provide cost-effective solutions for our customers.  Collaborating with our partner businesses that represent the best in the industry resulted in utilizing technology that can serve schools and students across the country and bring a real-time ID solution to this school lunch problem. It’s been a privilege!”
